What kind of adhesive is usually used for block board

Block Board is a man-made board made of natural wood core strips and two layers of veneer glued together. Adhesive plays a vital role in the structure of Block Board. It not only determines the bonding strength of the board, but also affects the environmental performance, durability and processing adaptability of the board. High-quality adhesives can significantly improve product quality, extend service life, and meet the technical requirements of different application scenarios.

Common adhesive types
Urea-formaldehyde resin glue (UF glue)
Urea-formaldehyde glue is the most widely used adhesive at present. It has low cost, fast curing and high strength. It is suitable for ordinary home decoration and furniture making. Its characteristics are:
Low curing temperature, suitable for mass production;
High bonding strength, suitable for the combination of wood core and veneer;
Mild odor, no obvious discomfort in regular use;
The only drawback is the release of free formaldehyde, which needs to be controlled within the national standard (such as E1, E0 level).
Under strict process control, Block Board produced with modified urea-formaldehyde glue can achieve E1 or even close to E0 environmental protection standards, meeting the green building materials needs of mainstream markets at home and abroad.

Melamine modified urea-formaldehyde glue (MUF glue)
MUF glue is urea-formaldehyde glue with melamine added to improve water resistance and structural stability. It is mainly used in Block Board products used in kitchens, bathrooms, and high humidity environments.
Advantages include:
Stronger moisture resistance, suitable for high humidity scenes;
More stable bonding performance, avoiding core material debonding;
Free formaldehyde emission is further reduced;
Moderate cost, suitable for the mid-to-high-end market.
Our company introduced a multi-component mixing system, which effectively improved the reaction efficiency and uniformity of MUF glue, making Block Board better than the industry average in key indicators such as moisture expansion rate and debonding rate.

Isocyanate glue (MDI glue/formaldehyde-free glue)
MDI glue, also known as "formaldehyde-free glue", does not contain urea-formaldehyde components, does not release formaldehyde during curing, and represents the current development direction of environmentally friendly adhesives. It is widely used in export-grade environmentally friendly products, high-end furniture, maternity and infant grade building materials and other fields.
Technical features:
Zero formaldehyde release;
Extremely high strength, suitable for applications with high structural load-bearing requirements;
Good weather resistance, suitable for complex climate and environmental conditions;
Relatively high cost, and more stringent process requirements.
Our company adopts the internationally advanced polymerized MDI glue ratio system, combined with high temperature and high pressure molding technology, to effectively improve the bonding uniformity and core layer stability. The formaldehyde-free Block Board produced is widely used in the fields of green buildings and healthy housing.

The impact of adhesive performance on product quality
Adhesive is not only a "connector", but also one of the decisive factors of Block Board's physical properties:
Bond strength: high-quality adhesive can ensure a firm bond between the core strip and the veneer, preventing problems such as delamination and hollowing during use;
Water resistance and heat resistance: different types of adhesives react differently to moisture and temperature, which is directly related to whether Block Board is suitable for special scenarios (such as bathrooms, kitchens, etc.);
Environmental protection level: Block Boards using high-quality low-formaldehyde or formaldehyde-free glue can significantly reduce formaldehyde emissions and ensure indoor air quality;
Processing suitability: The drying speed, viscosity and permeability of the glue affect the subsequent sawing, grooving, painting and other process flows.
