Material structure and moisture-proof performance basis
The veneered birch plywood is mainly made of multi-layer birch veneer glued through interlaced arrangements, and the surface is covered with natural veneer or high-quality wood grain veneer. As a hard broadleaf wood, birch wood has a fine texture and high strength. Its natural fiber structure makes birch itself have good mechanical strength and certain resistance to moisture deformation.
The moisture-proof performance of plywood depends largely on the type of adhesive used and the glue process. Because of its excellent water resistance, high-quality phenolic adhesives and urea-formaldehyde adhesives are often used in the production of high-performance birch plywood, which can effectively improve the moisture-proof and water-resistant ability of the board. In addition, the uniform distribution of the number of layers and thickness of the plywood can also enhance the overall structural stability and reduce warping and cracking caused by humidity changes.

Physical properties: water absorption and dimensional stability
Water absorption is an important indicator for measuring the moisture-proof performance of plywood. The overall water absorption rate of veneer birch plywood is relatively low due to the use of high density birch veneer. Usually, the water absorption rate of high-quality birch plywood can be controlled below 8%, which is significantly better than other cork plywood.
Dimensional expansion and contraction caused by changes in humidity are the main causes of deformation of wood materials. Birch plywood has good dimensional stability due to its staggered laminate structure. The thickness expansion rate of birch plywood that has been professionally processed and precisely controlled is generally controlled between 0.5% and 1%, ensuring that it can still maintain a relatively stable shape in humid environments and reduce deformation and edge curling.
However, extreme high humidity environments (relative humidity exceeds 85% and lasts for a long time) will have a certain impact on any wood material. If the bonding interface between the veneer and the substrate is not well treated, degumming and bloating are prone to occur. Therefore, the selection of moisture-proof adhesives and production process control are particularly critical.

Effect of processing technology on moisture-proof performance
Production technology plays an important role in determining the ability of birch plywood to adapt to humidity environments. In modern industrial production, through hot pressing technology and vacuum-assisted pressing, the compactness of the glue layer is improved, bubbles and defects are reduced, and the moisture-proof performance of the board is significantly improved.
The treatment of veneer is also critical. The surface veneer needs to be soaked with waterproofing agent or protected by special coating to enhance the waterproof and moisture-proof effect. Edge closure treatment is also an effective way to improve moisture resistance, avoiding overall deformation caused by water absorption and expansion at the edges of the board.
In addition, spray-coating protective coating or coating process adds an important moisture-proof barrier to birch plywood, which effectively isolates moisture in a humid environment. These processes have enhanced the application potential of boards in high humidity spaces such as kitchens and bathrooms.
