What is the density range of veneered birch plywood sheets

Material foundation and structural composition of birch plywood
The core material of veneer birch plywood is birch, usually hard broadleaf wood with dense texture and uniform fiber structure such as Russian birch, Finnish birch or Northeast birch. Birch veneer is laminated in a vertical and cross-sectional manner after rotary cutting, drying and sorting, effectively suppressing the warping and cracking problems caused by changes in humidity of wood.
The number of plywood layers is mostly 5 layers, 7 layers, 9 layers, 13 layers or even 15 layers, depending on the final use scenario. The surface layer is treated with veneer technology, and natural wood veneer (such as white oak, black walnut, red cherry) or technological wood veneer can be selected, giving the board dual advantages of decorative and functional. The more layers, the more stable the structure, and the corresponding density will be slightly improved.

Detailed explanation of the density range of veneer birch plywood
As a high-density broadleaf wood, birch has a basic density of about 620~750 kg/m³ (depending on the origin, moisture content and age of the tree species). After industrial-grade hot pressing and glue, the average density of the entire plywood will be slightly higher than that of natural birch.
Generally speaking, the density range of veneer birch plywood is:
Normal level density: 620~680 kg/m³
Suitable for scenes with low environmental requirements such as ordinary furniture, office partitions, interior wall veneers, etc.
High density level: 680~740 kg/m³
Suitable for high-end cabinets, door panels, floor substrates, decorative wall panels, etc. where structural strength and stability are required.
Special custom density: 750 kg/m³ and above
It is used in high-strength environments such as industrial manufacturing, heavy-duty furniture, acoustic structural panels, ship interior decoration, etc., and can increase density by compression molding or adding high-strength glue.
This density range allows veneer birch plywood to have good processability and environmental protection while maintaining excellent structural performance. The up and downward fluctuation of density values mainly depends on the following three factors: birch wood species source, plate layer number and thickness configuration, glue ratio and hot pressing parameter control.

Analysis of the relationship between the density and performance of plywood
Density is an important parameter that affects the physical and mechanical properties of veneer birch plywood. Increased density usually means that the inside of the material is tighter, with stronger bending resistance, lower moisture content fluctuations and higher impact resistance.
Increased flexural strength (MOR): The higher the density, the greater the resistance of the sheet to lateral pressure and impact load.
Enhanced dimensional stability: The moisture absorption coefficient of high-density plywood has a smaller coefficient of moisture absorption and better control of wet expansion and dry shrinkage.
Improved mechanical processing accuracy: higher density is conducive to better coordination during CNC engraving, edge sealing and hardware accessories installation.
More stable environmental performance: High-density boards usually use better adhesives, and the formaldehyde emission control is more stringent.
However, excessive density may also have some negative effects, such as increased processing difficulty, increased saw blade wear, and increased transportation costs due to increased weight of the whole plate. Therefore, it is crucial to choose veneer birch plywood of the right density grade among different usage requirements.

Veneer birch plywood density comparison and industry positioning
Compared with other types of plywood on the market, veneer birch plywood performs better in terms of density:
Compared with poplar plywood: the density of poplar plywood is about 500~550 kg/m³, the structure is loose and the load-bearing capacity is weak, and it is not suitable for load-bearing or humid environments.
Compared with mixed wood mixed core plywood, the density fluctuates greatly, stability and environmental protection performance are difficult to guarantee, especially in repeated processing or wet conditions, quality problems are prone to occur.
Compared with multi-layer boards: if a mixed core material is used, the density is uneven, and the structural strength and decorative nature are difficult to take into account.
