Product Overview

Invisible Security for High-Risk Architectural Environments

Bullet-Resistant Hardwood Plywood is a specialized ballistic-grade panel designed to protect occupants in government buildings, financial institutions, and high-end residential safe rooms. This is not a standard building board; it is a complex composite featuring high-density hardwood veneers (usually Birch or Beech) interlaced with layers of woven fiberglass, aramid fibers, or ballistic resins. This "honeycomb" layering is engineered to absorb the kinetic energy of a projectile by delaminating locally, trapping the bullet within the board and preventing penetration or dangerous backside spalling. It allows architects to build security into the "bones" of a building without the weight and industrial appearance of steel plating.

Our ballistic panels are manufactured under extreme pressure to ensure maximum fiber density. Because they are wood-based, they can be easily veneered with Oak, Walnut, or other decorative hardwoods, allowing a high-security partition or door to look identical to standard luxury joinery. The panels are tested to international UL 752 and EN 1063 standards, providing protection levels ranging from small arms to high-powered rifles. This makes them the definitive choice for courtrooms, bank counters, and executive suites where safety must be absolute but discrete.

Logistics and Financial Terms

Ballistic panels are exceptionally heavy and high-value. We utilize reinforced shipping crates and GPS-tracked logistics for sensitive projects. Payment is 50% deposit and 50% before dispatch. We provide specific test documentation and certification plates for the building's security record. Export is subject to local "dual-use" trade regulations.

Security Comparison

  • Vs. Ballistic Steel: Plywood panels are easier to install and don't produce dangerous ricochets.
  • Vs. Solid Masonry: Plywood allows for much faster construction and thinner wall profiles.
  • Vs. Standard Ply: Standard ply offers zero ballistic protection; ballistic ply is a life-saving device.

Energy Absorption

The Delamination Effect is the core technology. By spreading the Impact Force across multiple layers of Reinforced Hardwood, the kinetic energy is dissipated without the projectile passing through.

Green Building Commitment

Our ballistic panels support sustainable building by replacing energy-intensive steel with renewable wood fiber. Sourced from FSC-certified forests, they provide long-term carbon storage while meeting life-safety goals. We use low-emission resins, ensuring safe indoor air quality in the secure rooms they protect.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I cut it with a normal circular saw?
A: Yes, though it is much tougher on blades. We recommend high-grade carbide or diamond-tipped blades.
Q: What level of protection do I need?
A: Level 1 protects against 9mm; Level 3 protects against .44 Magnum. Check with your security consultant.
Q: Can it be used outdoors?
A: It is primarily an interior product, but we offer WBP-bonded versions for exterior gate or booth linings.
Q: Does it look different from regular plywood?
A: From the face, it looks like premium birch or whatever veneer you choose. The core layers are visibly denser.
Q: Is it fire-rated?
A: The density provides natural fire resistance, but we can also treat it with FR salts for B1 certification.
Q: How do I mount it?
A: Use high-tensile bolts or heavy-duty structural screws. Standard drywall screws are not sufficient.
Q: Does it stop shrapnel?
A: Yes, it is excellent at capturing fragments and preventing backside spalling.
Q: Can I veneer it later?
A: Yes, the surface is ready for standard woodworking adhesives and decorative finishes.
Q: Is it heavy?
A: Yes, it is roughly double the weight of standard plywood due to its high density.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes, we ship to most regions, though some ballistic products may require export licenses.
