What are the maintenance measures after veneered birch plywood surface coating treatment

In modern homes and commercial environments, Veneered Birch Plywood is popular for its elegant appearance and excellent performance. However, in order to ensure its long-term beauty and durability, a series of professional maintenance measures must be followed.

First, avoiding long-term direct sunlight is an important strategy to protect the coating. Ultraviolet rays can cause significant damage to the coating structure, causing molecular chain breakage, thereby accelerating the aging of the coating. This will not only cause surface fading, but may also cause cracking and chalking. In the hot and humid climate of the south or the dry and strong light environment of the north, the color difference change and cracking problems are particularly prominent. For this reason, it is recommended to use measures such as curtains, blinds or anti-ultraviolet films to reduce direct sunlight, while ensuring balanced indoor lighting to prevent uneven color caused by excessive local light.

Secondly, controlling indoor temperature and humidity is essential to extend the service life of the painted surface. Natural veneer has good hygroscopicity and shrinkage. Sharp fluctuations in ambient humidity may cause the expansion or contraction of the wood structure, thereby affecting the adhesion of the coating and even causing cracking or bubbling. The ideal indoor environment should maintain a relative humidity between 40% and 60% and a temperature between 18℃ and 28℃ to avoid stress damage to the board structure caused by frequent thermal expansion and contraction.

In terms of cleaning, daily maintenance should be carried out in a gentle manner. Although the painted surface has a certain degree of anti-fouling ability, it does not mean that it can withstand frequent use of highly corrosive or highly alkaline detergents. Therefore, it is recommended to use a soft dry cloth or a slightly damp cotton cloth to gently wipe the surface, and avoid using steel wool, hard brushes or cleaning products containing abrasive ingredients to avoid scratching the paint film or damaging the veneer. For stubborn stains, you can choose a neutral detergent to dilute and gently wipe it. After cleaning, you need to wipe it dry with a dry cloth in time to prevent moisture residue from causing the coating to turn white or the veneer to deform.

Good ventilation can effectively reduce the accumulation of moisture and prevent the growth of mold. In humid environments such as kitchens and bathrooms, it is recommended to regularly turn on ventilation equipment or use a dehumidifier to maintain air circulation and avoid moisture from staying on the surface and corners of the board for a long time. Ventilation can not only exhaust the chemical components that may exist in the indoor air, but also reduce the impact of volatile organic compounds on the performance of the coating.

In addition, avoiding heavy objects hitting and scratches from sharp tools is a basic requirement for maintaining the integrity of the coating surface. Although PU and UV coatings have a certain scratch resistance, surface indentations or scratches may still occur under external impact. Therefore, during use, untreated heavy objects should be avoided from being placed on the surface of the board, and direct contact with metal utensils should be avoided as much as possible. It is recommended to lay soft tablecloths, gaskets or non-slip mats in daily use areas to reduce the probability of damage to the surface caused by external friction.

Finally, regular waxing or application of protective oil is an effective way to enhance the durability and visual texture of the surface, especially for open paint, matte paint or oil wax surface treatment. Use professional wood maintenance wax or plant oil care agents, apply evenly every 3 to 6 months, can form a protective film, improve waterproof, anti-fouling and anti-scratch functions, and restore the gloss of the surface. When waxing, use a clean, soft cloth and wipe along the direction of the wood grain to avoid local accumulation and cause color spots or stickiness.
